Stowlangtoft News

Spring is certainly in the air. Buds are blooming, the birds are
singing, gardens are being prepared for planting and community events are being planned for the warmer weather. It’s such a wonderful time of year. We have several new residents in the village,
welcome to Stowlangtoft.  We look forward to meeting you all at one of our community events.

The eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted that the clock on St Georges Church has now been fixed and is up and running again and working accurately. The repair was arranged by the Parish Council and paid for by the Village Fund.

Book Club
The Stowlangtoft book club meets on a monthly basis with the members taking it in turns to host the meetings and choose the titles. New members are always welcome. Please contact Julie on her email julesbury@aol.com should you wish to join.

Village Calendar:
We are planning a Stowlangtoft Village Calendar for 2024 and would like to hear from anyone who has a special picture of the village which could be used as part of the calendar.

Speed Awareness Scheme:
Many of you will have noticed that the village Speed Awareness Scheme is up and running now with a group of 9 volunteers from the village working together to monitor vehicles passing through the village. Recording various speeds of vehicles passing through the village well in excess of the 30mph limit serves the community in many ways; recording the speeds on a regular basis helps build up a picture for both Suffolk Constabulary and Suffolk Highways, the presence of volunteers in Hi Vis jackets alerts and reminds drivers that they are being monitored and in most cases has an immediate effect of speed reduction, and ultimately drivers seeing that residents being active in caring for their communities safety will achieve respect and hopefully result in speed reduction.

Should you be willing to join the speed watch volunteers for the odd hour a week/fortnight then please contact Rob Cuff on the email below.

EVENTS in Stowlangtoft

Coffee Morning
Next coffee morning fast approaching. Watch this space!

Village Walk
Saturday 25th March saw a group of walkers, some with dogs others without, gather at the village sign at 10am for a gentle walk to Pakenham and back. The company were real fun and the exercise necessary!

All are welcome on the next village walk (TBA) and a great opportunity to meet your fellow residents.

Ted and Cecil
Friday 24th March saw St Georges welcome comedy duo “Ted and Cecil”. What a great night. The event was well supported and can certainly go down as a fun night for all that attended. The gentle Suffolk style combined with a hilarious outlook on rural life made for a very pleasant way of spending a Friday night in the village.
